John van Lieven from Holland took part in the 1953 REDeX Trial in an Austin A40. John's son Wayne has sent these three pics of his Dad and the cars. They thought of an idea to use a vacuum cleaner (seen on the roof in last pic), to suck out the bulldust when it got bad- it didn't work !
Thank you Wayne for the photos.
The A40 is refuelled at Renner Springs.
'Curly' Brydon's Austin Somerset had to have most of the LH front mudguard removed after the car was jammed over a log in a bog.
John having a shave beside the A40 during a rest stop. Note the vacuum cleaner on the roof rack with the hose going through the side window opening to try and suck the bulldust out.
Thank you Wayne for sharing these photos with us.....Brian.
